New to FFUMC?

Welcome!

New to Fayetteville First UMC?  We encourage you to explore Fayetteville First and find for you and your family places to be nurtured, to reach out, and to witness.

You are invited to join us for worship at 8:30, 9:45 or 11:00 a.m. Our 8:30 and 11:00 services are held in the sanctuary and offer a full choir as well as children’s moments. Our 9:45 worship is held in our intimate and historic chapel. Our worship music is traditional and inspiring and our preaching is dynamic and tranformational.  Begin with us in worship, then reach beyond to discover groups and gatherings where you can find home here at Fayetteville First.  We have Sunday school for all ages from 9:45 - 10:45. Click on the following link to find out more about our class offerings: Sunday School Guide

First Time Guests

If this is your first time to join us you may have some basic questions such as:

Where do I park?
We are located at 175 E. Lanier Avenue in Fayetteville, Georgia - just east of the square. Click on this printable map of our campus (campus map) to find the best place to park. We have handicap access to all areas of our building, however, some parking lots provide more direct paths than others. If you would like to know more about the best place to park for wheelchair access and/or a covered entrance please call the church office or email Rev. Allyson Lawrence at alawrence@fayettevillefirst.com

Who do I ask if I have questions?
Our ushers and greeters wear tags labeled "Usher" and are available to answer your questions and help you find your way to worship, Sunday school classes, child care and many others places of interest. We also have a Welcome Center located behind the sanctuary and media monitors located throughout the hallways that provide more information on the life and ministries of our church. If you have questions before you come, call the church office at 770-461-4313.

Connecting@FFUMC

Connecting@FFUMC is a 3-week series of one hour classes where your clergy and staff answer questions about what we do, why we do it, what we believe, and how to get involved at Fayetteville First UMC.  You will meet new people, learn more about the church and its programs, United Methodist beliefs, and take a tour of the church. Dr. David Campbell and other church clergy and staff teach this series on various Sunday afternoons.  Call the church office for the next class offering.

Some Common Terms:

Profession of Faith

If you are joining the church for the first time, you will join by Profession of Faith.

In coming forward to join the church, you repent of your sins, profess your belief in God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, receive and profess the Christian faith as contained in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments and promise to  keep God’s holy will and commandments as a faithful member of Christ’s holy church.

If you have not been baptized you will receive the sacrament of baptism during the service at which you join.

Baptism

If you were baptized as an infant, youth or an adult, you will not be rebaptized.  We recognize and honor your baptism in another Christian church, whether by immersion, pouring or sprinkling.  If you desire to be baptized, a minister will talk with you and arrange a time to celebrate your baptism in worship.

Transfer of Membership

Whether you are transferring your membership from another denomination or another United Methodist Church, you will be asked one question:

Will you be loyal to Jesus Christ through The United Methodist Church, and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service and your witness?
